What Is A Float Serve In Volleyball

What is a float serve in volleyball? A good float serve or floater is an essential tool to have in your volleyball arsenal. A float serve can be a killer to the opposition because it has no spin. The air catches it and can move it in many directions as it crosses over to your opponent’s side of the net. Having your players perfecting a solid and consistent float serve gives you the advantage over any team you are playing as they are so tough to gauge during gameplay. Here are the two keys in executing a float serve. First, have you arm out in front of you holding the ball in the palm of your hand at shoulder height. The server s toss needs to be low and controlled directly in front of her. The second key is the point of contact. The server needs to make contact on the volleyball with an open palm, using no fingers, right in the center of the ball. Practice makes perfect and this is one serve you do want to perfect as it gives any player a distinct advantage. Good luck!
